Knowledge Mobilization Process: Research

New discoveries arise out of basic, applied and sponsored research, with the UILO receiving approximately 130 new invention disclosures each year.

Under UBC Policy 88, new inventions arising from UBC activities must be disclosed to the UILO if they are to be commercialized.

We also however encourage disclosure of other research outputs that may have a knowledge translation component or may be suitable for non-proprietary dissemination that the UILO can provide assitance with.

More information on the disclosure process can be found here.

Following the submission of a signed disclosure, inventions enter the assessment phase, the nature of which is tailored to the particular technology, and which typically lasts up to 90 days.
