Mario Kasapi |
Dr. Kasapi received his Ph.D. from UBC’s Department of Zoology in 1997 specializing in Biomechanics. He joined The University of British Columbia University - Industry Liaison Office in 2002 and now serves as Associate Director, managing the Sponsored Research Group and co-managing Technology Transfer Group. Before UBC he was actively involved in various aspects of operations and business development, spanning both public and private companies in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors. Dr. Kasapi has also consulted for private companies and has been actively involved in the development and implementation of strategic plans, and assisting in development of intellectual property and licensing strategies, and research programs. At UBC, he orchestrated the formation of four spin-off companies: First Venture Technologies Corp. (TSX: FEB), Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc., Boreal Genomics Inc. and Cripton Technologies Inc. He is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers and the Alliance for Commercialization of Canadian Technologies Canada.
