A unique UBC low-frequency wireless power transfer technology, developed by a team led by Dr. Lorne Whitehead in UBC's Sustainability Solutions Applied Physics Laboratory, has successfully been demonstrated for the wireless charging of a fleet of electric vehicles run by UBC Building Operations.

The technology offers many advantages over other wireless charging and power transfer systems that are increasingly common for the proliferation of electronic devices in our everyday lives.
Able to transfer power over the broad range of milliwatts to kilowatts , the technology has many potential applications, but is currently being proven out in the electric vehicle sector.
