The UILO is developing a multi-faceted approach to mobilizing knowledge generated at UBC and its affiliated hospitals.

An overly proprietary approach to managing IP has all too frequently hindered innovation and prevented discoveries from ever leaving the institutions.  Rather than focusing solely on commercialization, the UILO’s attention is shifting to the identification of the most appropriate knowledge mobilization channels to maximize the impacts of each of the many different types of research activities and outputs.

You should contact the UILO if you:

• Have a research discovery you wish to commercialize
• Have a research output you wish to distribute, share or translate into policy or practice
• Wish to create a spin-off company around UBC intellectual property
• Wish to license or invest in a UBC technology
• Wish to access UBC discoveries through other mobilization channels
