In research consortia, multiple member companies work together with UBC researchers to develop a research program or project and then share access to research outputs such as papers, reports and software.
The benefits for companies is that they can access a greater variety of research outputs and interact with UBC in a more integrated ways than might be generated by a single collaborative project, while also having an input on the direction of a broader research program.
For UBC researchers, these consortia help ensure that real-world impacts are generated from the program, and students are developing experience and expertise in areas known to be a priority to industry.
Examples of UBC research consortia include the SINBAD collaborations and projects at the Geophysical Inversion Facility.
