Building on more than 1,000 industry collaborations each year to further improve industry engagement with academic research.
The expanding concept of industry engagement builds on UBC’s current research partnership activities and develops new and innovative ways for UBC to share its research expertise, capacity and infrastructure with industry partners to further improve Canada's innovation performance, and in return expose UBC researchers and students to real-world issues and problems.
Making the process as simple as possible is fundamental, and this is being achieved through increasing flexibility and clarity relating to existing practices and activities, by developing and supporting creative new ways of building ongoing relationships, and by becoming a central point to direct partners to the broad range of interacting with UBC (co-ops, internships, student projects etc.).
You should contact the UILO if you wish to:
- Engage in a University-industry research partnership (Grants, Collaborative Research Agreements, Clinical Research Agreements, Service Contracts)
- Engage in a research partnership with government and non-profit organizations that involves contractual terms (i.e. not a grant)
- Submit a Sponsored Research Information Form
- Transfer materials to or from another organization or company
- Initiate a Non-disclosure Agreement
- Discuss a potential collaboration with the University but are unsure who to speak with
- Develop new innovative models of partnerships such as the Campus as a Living Lab and research consortia
